Brandlin Cabernet Sauvignon INAUGURAL RELEASE
Commemorating the Brandlin family and their Mount Veeder legacy, this wine embodies the vineyard’s distinctive character. The star of the vineyard, Cabernet Sauvignon, is the rich core of the wine. The Malbec lifts the fruit and adds pretty aromatic notes. The Cabernet Franc adds nuances of spice and lavender, while the Petit Verdot provides added backbone, inky color and deep black fruit. Winemaker, Steven Rogstad
2004
Wine Enthusiast - 92 Points
Other wineries have produced very good vineyard-designated Cabs from this mountain property. Now Brandlin has a go, and the wine shows promise. It’s considerably more tannic than most expensive New Age Napa Cabs, so dry and astringent that it demands cellar time. But, it should develop, to judge from the powerful core of black currant fruit. Best after 2008 and through 2012, at least. Cellar Selection - Steve Heimoff - February 2008
The Wine News - 92 Points
Fruity, appealing aromas of sour cherry jam, red currant, vanilla and hints of mocha, lavender and brown spice. Rich and almost jam-like, but not thick, with medium-full tannins and a lively palate that replicates the nose, this complex Cab gains depth from the 12% Malbec, 3% Petit Verdot and 1% Cab Franc. Steve Pitcher - June 2008

Brandlin Cabernet Sauvignon is One to Watch!
Over 1,100 wines were reviewed in this year’s annual California Cabernet Tasting Report. Brandlin was featured with some of the top Cabernets in the country, as part of a select group of wineries that stood out as “20 to Watch.” November 2007
Wine Spectator Insider - 90 points
A ripe, juicy Mount Veeder offering, with black cherry and wild berry fruit that’s well-proportioned and focused. Tightens up midpalate showing its tannic muscle on the finish. New second label of Cuvaison. Drink now through 2013. James Laube - August 2007
2005
Wine Enthusiast - 93 Points
This is an excellent young Cabernet Sauvignon that will take some bottle age. Coming on the heels of the high-scoring 2004, it's full-bodied and extraordinarily rich, with intense blackberry, black currant, chocolate, coffee and cedar flavors, wrapped into near-perfect tannins. Shows great grapes and a deft winemaking hand. Steve Heimoff - March 2009

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate - 93 Points
The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt Veeder (86% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot) is one of the finest wines of the vintage. Its dense ruby/purple color is accompanied by aromas of creme de cassis, licorice, forest floor and floral undertones. The wine possesses layers of fruit in addition to full-bodied power, and plenty of well-integrated, velvety tannin. Drink this beauty over the next 10-15 years. December 2009
Wine and Spirits - 92 Points
One of the “Year's Best Cabernet Sauvignons.”
This is an elegant, red-fruited 2006 Cabernet. The scent of the wine is vibrant, in the realm of tiny strawberries and other pine forest scents; the tannins have a red edge to their darker, earthy mineral tones. Those tannins feel a little worked, softened and rounded in the cellar, making the fruit accessible without diminishing their Veeder character. It’s suited to a few years of age and a thick-cut lamb chop. Joshua Greene - December 2009
The Wine News - 92 Points
Garnet hue with a fuchsia rim. Fresh aromas of violets and clove with a notable flintiness. Accessible flavors of black cherry and plum edged by white pepper and mint. Raspy tannins support flamboyant fruit in the spicy finish. October 2009
Wine Spectator - 90 Points
Firm, rich, intense and concentrated, with fresh, vibrant black cherry, currant and wild berry fruit that's pure and vibrant, showing a pleasing earthy mineral character, joined by a touch of herb. Drink now through 2016. James Laube - August 2009
Wine Enthusiast - 90 Points
This is a gigantic Cabernet. It detonates on the palate with an explosion of blackberries, black currants, chocolate, anise and smoky cedar, wrapped in firm, dusty mountain tannins. It’s the perfect example of a Mount Veeder Cab. Steve Heimoff - December 2009
2007
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate - 94+ Points
A blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc, the 2007 Brandlin Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder exhibits complex aromatics of plums, licorice, cassis, charcoal, and flowers. This dense purple-colored wine cascades over the palate with sweet, velvety tannins, a hint of minerality, and youthful vigor and exuberance. Impressively concentrated, deep, and long, it will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring, and last for 20+ years. These are top-notch efforts! December 2009
